CHN: Labor Secretary Confirmed
Alexander Acosta was confirmed (60-38) as the new Labor Secretary on April 27. The National Employment Law Project, Jobs With Justice, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, and other groups in the human needs community opposed his nomination. Acosta is a former U.S Attorney, former assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, and a former member of the National Labor Relations Board. He is also the first Hispanic member of President Trump’s cabinet.
