Article 1, Section 9, Clause 7 of the U.S. Constitution says: “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.”
The President of the United States does not have unlimited authority to decline congressional appropriations and decide what gets funded and by how much depending on his whims and which political adversaries he wants to punish.
By hijacking congressionally appropriated funds, Donald Trump and Elon Musk (and his unqualified, unscreened team) are yanking funding from people and programs in our communities―which will have a real impact on many of our neighbors as they face frozen funding for critical human needs programs that people rely on to survive.
Congress must stand up to stop this lawless power grab.
The season of giving is here, and after your post-Thanksgiving #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday shopping, on #GivingTuesday, December 3rd, please consider supporting the Coalition on Human Needs (CHN).
CHN has been fighting for human needs for close to 40 years. This past year alone, CHN has:
And so much more. CHN will always be committed to advocating for the human needs community, but we cannot do it alone. Now, more than ever, we need your support.
Help us by becoming a sustaining donor to the Coalition on Human Needs. By giving $5 monthly, you will support our efforts now and well into the future. And thanks to support of a generous funder, all contributions collectively up to $5,000 will be matched dollar for dollar.
Please keep CHN in mind for your #GivingTuesday contribution. By saving the date and making a tax-deductible donation online, you will strengthen CHN in our fight for human needs. Please join us this December 3rd.
